This Business for Sale

I presume that you have landed on this page because you want more information on the business—or are just curious.  Either way, here is an explanation:

The Meteorite Market was started in 1995 as a side business to my then occupation as a lawyer working on complex litigation.  Those were early days—before Google or Amazon existed and my early web-presence resulted in good contacts and some lucky hits on special meteorites.  Because of my law income, I was able to acquire quantities of meteorites at good prices over the years.  My background as a geologist helped with clientele that included many academic institutions.  Our information pages and longevity resulted in very high rankings on search engines.  For years, the business provided a good income.

Then I got old.  I am 75 and I need to recognize that the end is nigh.  I had hoped to give the business to my son who is a respected geologist, but he has declined.  As my effort on the business has waned, the rankings have waned and business is down.

But here there is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial person.  The greatest value of this business—perhaps its only value now—is in inventory.  What is on the web is just the tiny tip of a large ice burg.  While it is not apparent in the current market, the inventory means that this remains significant business in this niche industry.
